Calendar Updates, Grades
Please check the calendar above for updates. Also, grades for quarter 2 are complete in Powerschool. Paper report cards go home today. Please check powerschool for additional comments.
ZPD/Reading Range = the reading range where growth occurs without frustration. This range will not necessarily match the grade level.
Points = a point value is assigned to books based SOLELY on the number of words contained in the book. Points do not measure difficulty.
Book Level = the readability of a book. AR uses software to scan every single word in the book and has a precise formula to determine readability. Again, this number does not necessarily correspond to the grade level. Most newspapers are written at a 5.0 level, even though adults read them.
Interest Level = indicates whether a book would interest or be appropriate for a range of grades. LG means 3rd and lower, MG means 4-8, and UG means 9-12. NEW: AR just added a category named MG+ meaning for grades 6-8. MG and MG+ are appropriate for middle schoolers, whereas MG+ books might not be appropriate for grades 4-5.
Average Percent Correct = the average of all quizzes taken for a certain time period. Student goals are tracked based on quarters. They can access their stats by logging into either Renaissance Place or Home Connect.
CCS Policy on Blogs
Attention Students: While on campus, you are only allowed to access teacher or school sponsored blogs. You may, however, create and edit your own blogs at home with parental permission as long as you do not visit or edit them here on campus (before, during, or after school).
