Scholastic December Orders Due 12/10

I have posted the December orders on my book clubs page. Please place your order by December 10th. I will put the order in with rushed shipping so the kids can be guaranteed to receive their books prior to Dec. 22 (last day of school before break). I will pass out the flyers when I return.

AR Glossary

ZPD/Reading Range = the reading range where growth occurs without frustration. This range will not necessarily match the grade level.

Points = a point value is assigned to books based SOLELY on the number of words contained in the book. Points do not measure difficulty.

Book Level = the readability of a book. AR uses software to scan every single word in the book and has a precise formula to determine readability. Again, this number does not necessarily correspond to the grade level. Most newspapers are written at a 5.0 level, even though adults read them.

Interest Level = indicates whether a book would interest or be appropriate for a range of grades. LG means 3rd and lower, MG means 4-8, and UG means 9-12. NEW: AR just added a category named MG+ meaning for grades 6-8. MG and MG+ are appropriate for middle schoolers, whereas MG+ books might not be appropriate for grades 4-5.

Average Percent Correct = the average of all quizzes taken for a certain time period. Student goals are tracked based on quarters. They can access their stats by logging into either Renaissance Place or Home Connect.
